Officials with the Dallas County Republican Party Executive Committee today announced they will donate a portion of the proceeds from their "Old Fashioned Family Picnic" this Saturday, August 15th at the Napa Valley Gazebo near Waukee to the open seat State House District 90 race in southeastern Iowa. The mid-day event from 11:00am-1:00pm will feature food, games and prizes for all ages. Folks are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets, as the Dallas County GOP will provide all the rest for the modest price of $40 per family, or $10 per individual.

This year's picnic is the first Republican county-sponsored event in the Des Moines metro area to provide a stage for all of the presumed Iowa GOP gubernatorial candidates, where five of six are confirmed to attend.  In alphabetical order, they include State Senator Jerry Behn, businessman Christian Fong, State Representative Christopher Rants, State Representative Rod Roberts, and businessman Bob Vander Plaats.  Congressman Tom Latham and Republican Party State Chair Matt Strawn also have confirmed their attendance. The brief program begins at 12:00 noon, with each candidate speaking for no more than two minutes.

"We're calling it a fun-filled and fast 120 seconds at 12noon," remarked Finance Chair Pete Jeffries regarding the short program of political speeches at Saturday's picnic. "And we want to use the Family Picnic as another opportunity to get our activists and supporters focused on helping Iowa get back on the right track with common-sense leadership. For example, we'll be chipping in $90 for House District 90 as a way to start that process at the ballot box."

Following the speeches, State Chair Strawn will accept the Dallas County GOP's donation to benefit the campaign of farmer and businessman Stephen Burgmeier, the Republican nominee running in House District 90's special election held on September 1st.  Strawn commented, "I want to personally thank the leadership of the Dallas County Republicans for stepping up and helping out in this important special election, open seat race in southeast Iowa.  We're seeing momentum building all across the state to win House District 90 with our fine candidate Stephen Burgmeier, and this donation is another example of an energized Republican Party in Iowa."
HELLO ALL!

See the flyer for our Family Picnic, hosted by the Dallas County GOP Central Committee. We have an exciting announcement: 5 of the 6 candidates for Governor are attending! We are thrilled to have them coming, as well as a possible visit from Congressman Latham.

This is your chance to meet them all in person and have a nice, casual lunch with your family at the same time. Children are absolutely welcome.

The event will be on Saturday 8/15 from 11a-1p at the gazebo in Napa Valley, on R22 (Waukee/Booneville exit off Interstate 80). Bring your lawn chairs or blankets. Cost is $40/family or $10/individual.

I encourage each of you to come and bring your friends, family, and neighbors! It is definitely not too late to RSVP (you can still show up Saturday even if you don't RSVP.) We would love to have a huge crowd and we may be having a media presence as well.

Thanks and hope to see you there,
Dr. Christi Taylor
